So I just started Grad School in computer science. Came to know that I need to start prepping for internships for the summer of next year right from now. The problem is
- I have a three year gap after my Bachelor's in computer science. Partly due to being undiagnosed with ADHD and partly the pandemic. The only "tangible" work I did back then was as a technical recruiter for a few months.
- I have next to no projects that I worked on right from my bachelor's till now. Again due to not knowing I had ADHD so I just coasted along. The only reason I am in grad school in the first place is due to me finding out I had ADHD and taking steps to cope with it. (S/O @crime )
So my question is what can I do in the coming months to land an internship? And how do I justify the gap in my resume?
isn't this what grad school is for? i feel like you gotta just show up to the function and network, meet people who know people who got opportunities.
incidentally The Function would be a good name for a Lisp-centric party
I do incidentally have a career fair coming up so that might be a good opportunity to network. My only issue is converting the opportunities into a internship with my current level of skill(or the lack thereof).
