Nah, Oculus headset with SteamVR games is fine. The issue is playing Oculus exclusive games (because of course Facebook had to make exclusivity deals) with other headsets. But like I said, there's ways to get it working.
god thats annoying. I hate all the launchers and people will say "no its good steam has competition!" but as soon as there's launcher exclusives it goes out the window. I rather a monopoly over 6 launchers.
same with streaming videos, there was an absolute golden age around 2008-2013ish when Netflix was the only player on the field and everyone was selling their catalogue to them for a nickel. Now I have 4 streaming subscriptions and 9 video game store launchers
Only good thing to come from it is the endless free games Epic gives out. I have something like 100+ games in my epic library, some very high quality games. I've never put my credit card into Epic.
If you've got Prime, you can also get free games from Amazon Games (used to be through Twitch). I've got like 30+ games from that, I easily put a few hundred hours into Enter the Gungeon
Last time I borrowed a friend's oculus, playing steam games was a non-issue. Did that change? it's been a couple years.

Every few months amazon makes the foolish mistake of giving me a free month, despite me cancelling it every time. I'll check that out.
