I wonder which senators will take their turn being the bad guy on this issue so that dems get to say "oh well, nevertheless" and blame failure to change course on the republicans

The US can literally kill Netanyahu, replace him with a liberal, and then continue the genocide but pay lip service through shoot and cry media like they did in Vietnam. But they can’t even do that because the hatred runs too deep. Liberals don’t get to “feel horrified” by the war crimes they allowed to happen in Vietnam because they clearly have not learned anything, even the most rudimentary propaganda techniques to keep the war going. Pathetic

Dems gonna thread that needle like a surgeon. I’m sure AIPAC and other Israeli lobbies will be calling Dem offices over the weekend to let them know that if the weapons don’t flow to Israel, instead of donating to both parties they will load up on the GOP (and the GOP will be more than happy to oblige and take the position that Israel must not be hindered). We might see a different tune by Monday.

But the genocide really is hurting them deeply in the polls. So get ready for a performance from the Dems worth of Kenneth Branaugh. There will be so many condemnations, “calls for peace”, and a whole lot of empty words. But where it really matters:

    1. Weapons to Israel
    2. Running cover for Israel at the UN/ICJ
    3. Threats to do X if Israel doesn’t let aid in

You won’t actually see any changes. I’m so sure of this, you can write down, sign it, and mail it to yourself.

Memo rapidly circulating around DC that maybe “defend to the death another nation’s version of the trump admin” is not the electoral hill to die on

here we go. they are going to try to wash their hands of netanyahu, find a way to get rid of him, and declare the problem solved as the genocide is ramped up harder by those that follow him

He's Israel's Trump in the sense that he's merely a symptom of the underlying problem

The Dems have come to their senses, and they are going to do liberalism at Israel SO HARD!

Does anyone know how many weapons the US has already provided to Israel since Oct 7th?

Part of me wonders if it was the plan to let it go on until them "solving the Israel Hamas war" is in recent memory for election day. Thing is, I bet it would work - genocide Joe would be called that because he "stopped" it. It would really be that easy to win the election.

I think there are too many wild cards.

      • Israel is capable of anything at any time.

      • I assume that Hezbollah could finally go to war with Israel. I assume there's a number of dead (the number put out the health ministry) where Hezbollah will have reached its limit and war follows. I could be all wrong but then again - nobody knows for sure what Hezbollah could/would/might eventually do.

      • Unexpected events in/near Israel could occur.
