Eh, it's not like he's used to winning every match, the other top players are pretty close to being as good as he is, and he has also lost to much worse players before. Something about this loss has in particular has him really triggered for whatever reason
Or maybe the top chess players inevitable turn into weird cranks at some point. Fischer became an insane anti-semite and Kasparov leads some radical centrist NGO and apparently believes in some weird conspiracy theory about antiquity not being real or something
but more than usual, chess is an elite Brain Sport so chess folk are fooled into thinkin theyre inherently Very Smart people.
no, actually being good at a board game does not impart knowledge and wisdom for any other subject, but dont let a chess dude hear that after centuries of hype for their skillset lol
it was an in person, filmed match no-ones been able to broach a reasonable theory about despite like months? of Magnus supporters malding over it
fame and prestige ruins peoples brains, a mf who was reasonable and respectful in the past shouldnt be expected to remain so after entering the limelight.
It's the only really plausible theory that doesn't conflict with things like broadcast delays and other anti-cheating measures, but its also debatable as to what degree of cheating it is.
Though it would probably still be against the rules cause theres a blanket rule you can't take actions that bring the game of chess into disrepute, which exploiting other players leaked personal preparations would definitely fall under.
We need a Chess 2, I vote for Boxing Chess. Lets see how well you can memorize movesets when you also have to hit the gym and avoid getting hit in the face.
i dont understand how that would even not be a case of being outplayed. "oh no, my opponent is countering my moves!" doesn't change strategies or modify my plan in any way
and all these dudes memorise move-sets its absurd for that to only count when your opponent uses the one youve studied
I think magnus is pissed because of what Hans said in his interview after that game, that magnus must feel bad to lose to an idiot like him. Also he is probably convinced he cheated but can't prove it.
anyone qualifying for a tournament like that could beat the shit outta 90+% of chess players, i dont think its very fair to act like hans wouldn't be qualified for an unlikely victory.
Yeah most gms who analyzed the game said Magnus just played worse than he normally does. I do think his interviews were weird though but obviously not proof of cheating. I don't really know what to think about this situation other then that I want more drama. I wouldn't be surprised if Hans did cheat or if he didn't
:farquaad-point: fucking shitface ass "best ever" chess motherfucker upset someone is close to as good as him.
1 game. he lost 1 fucking game. every other fucking sport on earth doesn't give a fuck about a slip-up.
no-ones 100% 24/7 but this motherfucker is determined to rage his way to ??? proving he's perfect under all circumstances? he isnt.
awful sport, who'd want to play with a fucker like this

He voluntarily appeared on the Lex Friedman podcast. I bet most people are unaware of that.
Hans is absolutely not close to as good as him.
I think magnus is pissed because of what Hans said in his interview after that game, that magnus must feel bad to lose to an idiot like him. Also he is probably convinced he cheated but can't prove it.
"imagine losing to me, I suck lmao"

I was going to say that this is like Ronnie O'Sullivan losing a match and cracking someone in the head with his cue in response, but then I read that he literally assaulted a press officer during a tournament lmao

It got everyone to talk about chess again. That's pretty positive, no matter how you look at it.
It could all be kayfabe. Or if it's not, it should be.
