Thank you for the detailed and very nicely laid out report, I hope you had fun playing Riven :07:

This was posted under a review of Myst so unfortunately it isn't a random non-sequitur which would have been perfect

I remember there was a youtube video where a guy posted "listening this now to remind me of my youth....dunno how long I have with this cancer, but I guess life's been good for me" and then 3 fucking years later he's like "I'M BACK BABY!!!! I BEAT THE CANCER; STILL LOVE MY WIFE AND LIFE, ROCK ON EVERYBODY" and I wish I bookmarked that because what a fucking gem of two comments on a random youtube video that is

Little vignettes of every day life and nostalgia from people all over the world. The internet can still be nice if you don’t poke it too much

IDK, there's spaces you can be a minority on the internet that are fun. It's a lot like the real world, except because we're never really in physical danger I feel like we have a tendency to poke around forums dedicated to hating us and getting upset about it. I think people call that "digital self harm" nowadays

All it takes is literally playing World of Warcraft early in the morning to find those people. The antisemitism alone is a good way to grow an obese ignore list. That's also true for lots of other online games.

At any time of day, honestly. I never found the classic world chats to be moderated very much.

Like the English cooking lady who is terrible at cooking but incredibly keen to show us her dishes.

The world is going to be a diminished place when the last wholesome boomer who doesn’t understand the internet logs off for the last time. Like when the last elf sails west.

There's a couple gun channels like this, just old guys with an appreciation for muzzleloaders.

you get tons of them on classic doom youtube channels and it just makes my day every time I see one of them talking about how they're getting back into making doom levels after almost 25 years or something
