The Japanese scion of noise, Merzbow, played two nights in Khabarovsk for the Soviet Far East Festival Of Jazz & Improvized, Electroacoustic, Experimental Music in late March of 1988. Originally put out on his own ZSF Produkt label as an LP of 300 copies, it was later reissued as part of the 50-CD Merzbox release. A far cry from what many would recognize as the unrelentingly harsh Merzbow à la 1930 or Pulse Demon, this is clearly Merzbow still in his "junk noise" stage using handcrafted/improvised instruments, and using accompaniment for the second performance.
