Cuba becomes perhaps the most LGBT positive country on the planet with this. Not even kidding, I've talked with people around the globe and the country at the top of the list was probably Argentina in regards to government services. Now, Cuba beats them out. Free HRT and trans surgeries, helping people with diverse family backgrounds, gay marriage, free housing, its all there now. I'm curious to see, going forward, what the focus of the LGBT community in Cuba will be outside of peer-to-peer discrimination. I know that the trans surgery waiting list is a bit long in Cuba right now but I'm aware thats an issue that is currently being addressed as many US trans surgeons are training Cuban doctors as part of an exchange program based on the fact that I've actually talked with the docs doing that.
Watch Cuba become the next Sweden.
:frothingfash:: "Haha, Cubans r le gay and they r le reverse-racist"
:fidel-cool:: "Yes".
“Bu-but they have a zero in the Wholesome Free Speech Democracy Index!”
Fuck yes fuck yes fuck yes. Exceedingly based. Probably the most genuinely progressive country on gender and sex in the world with this. Legal protections for any family unit. :bloomer:
And this is exactly the point I try to make to people about communism in development, be it in Cuba or China or Vietnam. Good systems will make continual progress and reach the right places, even if it's gradual. Bad systems will regress, even when there are brief moments of relative successs (like with LGBT rights in the US).
MFW big bad communism is actually doing what the US education system said was so great about America.
Is this the family code? If so, this is way bigger than just same-sex marriage :party-cat:

GET FUCKED AMERIKKKAN SAVAGES! This is what a real civilized people look like.
Oh man, the cracker tears on Twitter are going to be beautiful.
Fuck yes! Now lift the blockade and watch as this island built on solidarity annihilates you in every metric
Also important to note that Cuba is training a large team of surgeons in gender reassignment procedures right now. Cuba always shares its medical advances with other countires. These doctors will help trans people all over Latin America to live fulfilled, dignified lives.
:party-blob:
67% of the population voted in favor of enshrining queer rights into the cuban constitution. Incredible.
:cereal1: "They will never be more progressive than the US on social relations!"
:castro-stuff: I'm more progressive than the US on social relations
:cereal2:
yes, he fully took responsibility in multiple interviews and expressed regret. Being queer was also decriminalized in 1979.
