Dickran Gobalian, aka Leon Redbone was born in Cyprus of Armenian descent. Redbone migrated a few places before ending up in Toronto in the 1960s and changing his name to Leon via the Ontario Name Change Act (i think. Im going off memory, and im too lazy to look it up.)

Leon’s sound was Blues, and Tinpan Alley, and Vaudeville. He was not a trained musician and played everything by ear. He survived a plane crash in the late 70s and afterwards travelled to all his shows via car. He wrote and sang the theme song to Mr Belvedere, in the 1980s. Ive listened to his music since i was a kid. I learned who he was by watching Mr Belvedere when it was on TV. Thanks for coming to my tedX talk about Leon Redbone.

This song makes me want to lay down by a river with my back up against a tree and snooze the day away.
