In 2005 i never would have guessed that neoliberal globalization would leave their economies so spread out with so many points of failure that they'd be unable to produce ammunition and also dependent on their declared enemy for inputs.
My entire adult life has been a series of "Surely the people making policy have some self-preservation instincts!" thoughts followed later by dull horror when I realize they don't.
only next quarter's results matter until one day there's nothing left to loot or squeeze
