In a big win for creative expression, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed The Decriminalizing Artistic Expression Act, which restricts the use of rap lyrics as evidence in court in California.

Took me three guesses to get it right. First guess: they're criminalizing rap. Second guess: they were banning lawyers from presenting their case via rap. Third guess: Ooooh, rap lyrics can't be presented as evidence (which like....really? Took you this long to make this a thing?)

edit: oh, cannot be used as evidence, that makes sense. I thought they were banning defense lawyers from quoting rap songs.
