The CIA and origin of modern intelligence agencies was the most professionalised time in history. From the blueprint of the OSS through to at least the 1970s they were literally all from the same schools, the same families, and often the same companies. It was such a fucking boys club that they literally turned a blind eye to people high up in their own orgs being double agents just because they were friends and colleagues.
