95% of big science words are there because if you used the perfectly reasonable common word it could get confusing quickly, since there might be 10 slightly different things in your field that could all be described as such and you need to distinguish them. And God help you if you try to communicate between even closely related disciplines, who even use different mathematical notation conventions.
Biology researchers....my brother in christ, do we have to know all these words just to get through your paper?
