Germany’s economy minister has accused the U.S. and other “friendly” gas supplier states of astronomical prices for their supplies.
He suggested some gas suppliers were profiting from the fallout from the war in Ukraine which has sent global energy prices soaring.
TL;DR The US is using EU flesh to skin-graft the burns sustained from its own suicidal foreign policy, and everyone is beginning to take notice of it
honest question, how would that work? are we talking about arranging a negotiated price at which EU countries agree to purchase American LNG? wouldn't the Americans have the negotiating leverage there? Like if you've neutered the ability of Euro states to buy from Russia, isn't America the only other bulk supplier? You'd need to escalate into a greater trade war, right? just asking.
In theory, the EU would agree to, as a trading bloc, not purchase any LNG from the US above a certain agreed upon price; this was the concept of the "buyer's cartel" which was pitched earlier in the year to be used against Russia. As far as I know, this ended up being dismissed as an option because the member states couldn't reach an agreement. I assume the OP was making a joke in reference to this.
