That wouldn't protect the Americans though... it would just kill Europeans back, it would literally just make the world a worse place.

Except your plan would lead to the death of hundreds of millions across all of asia while doing nothing to prevent tragedy in the Americas. It is also essentializing capitalism to the nature of the peoples of Europe regardless of class or material conditions, it is just straight up eco-fascism justified through liberal moralism.

I don't agree. The people that invented capitalism invented capitalism. Other people wouldn't invent the same sytem. We couldn't yet know if the economic rationalism required to prefigire comunism would be more or less likely with the new world being essentially off limits for resource extraction. I would think thst process would be faster and less totalizing in the senario of a depopulated old world. Which if it works would represents a massive savings in life lost over time. Since europe does go on to colonize and kill huge numbers of people in the old world as well.

If it does not work. We can just go back and undo the change we changed.

They did kill a lot of Europeans, though. Syphilis was basically indistinguishable from a hemmoragic fever when it first hit Europe. Malaria et al killed off most of the Conquistadors.

No, what you do is that you get the Aztec tributary states that joined Cortez to merc him and all his friends after they overthrew the Aztec empire, take their stuff and reverse engineer it, and unify Central America into a defensive military alliance.

The Incas could probably make good use of metallurgical technology. They had a big, organized, prosperous empire with this weird state-collectivist redistributive economy.
