I heard something that happens at the end basically makes new Vegas canon. I have not finished it myself yet.

That's fair. I'm really enjoying the show so far. I had fairly low expectations, but it's definitely exceeded what I was expecting after seeing the trailer.

I don't know how the cameo happens or when it happens in the timeline of the show. It could be before new Vegas events. There are flashbacks and recordings in the show.

That's true. The show features pre-war House.
However, season 2 of the tv show will feature the Strip. So the writers must pick one New Vegas ending to make canon.
But this is just how New Vegas looks? I didn't watch the show, but that just looks like the sun in the background?
