Even if you're a smart guy with this amazing idea. Why waste it on a TED talk?

Have TED talks EVER changed anything? ANY paradigm shifts whatsoever? Call me cynical, but let's say I got an engineering degree and built cars, buses, and trains that uses CO2 as fuel and somehow creates water as the only waste, the average person would think "wow cool! That means I can consume in peace as this guy is offering to clean up after me and my precious corporations!" and then forget about my spiel within 2 weeks.

TED is just a brand. If you've got something to say and want to say it to a new audience, then I say go for it, who cares. Of course most people who do them are libs, because most people in society and everyone on the TED selection committee are, but it's not like TED is a neoliberal think tank writing ghoul legislation (unless they are and I just don't know about it).
