The Paris Massacre was a brutal instance of police repression against Algerians that occurred on this day in 1961, during the Algerian War.

There were multiple episodes of violence between French police and the French Algerian community during the anti-colonial Algerian War: racist French cops terrorized Algerians, while pro-liberation groups targeted and killed police with bombing campaigns.

It was in this context that the head of the Parisian police, Maurice Papon (a former Nazi collaborator later convicted of crimes against humanity) ordered police to kill Algerians, promising that they would be protected from any consequences.

Under these orders, the French National Police attacked a demonstration by 30,000 pro-National Liberation Front (FLN) Algerians on October 17th, beating dozens to death and throwing people into the Seine river, where many drowned. After 37 years of denial and censorship of the press, the French government finally acknowledged 40 deaths in 1998, although there are estimates of 100 to 300 victims.

Sooo.. it turns out the original voice actress for Bayonetta is a TERF and an egomaniac.

yeah, fuck her. but boycotting bayonetta is still good, because they didn't decide not to bring her back for that stuff, they just wanted to pay her less than she was worth

That is what happened though. It's really common to muscle people out the door this way in all industries. Even fast food does it. They didn't want to bring her onboard for the project but were obligated to toss out an offer and they did one they knew she wouldn't take.

sure but i don't believe for a second her transphobia was a factor in that decision.

            Yeah they likely didn't care

Personally it wouldn't really surprise me that since VA's can strike goldmine deals that keep you from needing to find VA work for months/years and those jobs can be a major game role or something as simple as speaking one line in a single Mcdonalds commercial, she probably got paid huge amounts for Bayo 1 + 2 and coasted off them and then was banking on one last check and then suddenly gets hit with this.

Seriously, check her VA history. You'll see a massive gap after Bayo 1 + 2, which is probably indicative of landing that goldmine gig that VA's will try to fish for.

i mean, i don't think it was a super high profile issue before this (though i am open to the possibility that i was the odd one out in not knowing) but even if it was i really doubt they'd go this route. hideki kamiya's response makes it look like something else, at least to me.
