trust the plan.
Good Bye, Lenin! (2004) - In The German Democratic Republic, the world's coolest mom tragically falls into a coma. While she is unconscious, Good Germany sadly falls to revisionism and becomes really shitty. When she wakes up, her son has to create a fake world for her where the GDR still exists and capitalism hasn't sadly triumphed, or else she will die from the shock. Touching, sad, and funny movie.
Since it looks like we're holding off on Halloween recommendations for now, I'll suggest: Kung Fu Panda 2, the best of the trilogy.
And just cuz the other two are great films as well: The og Kung Fu Panda. (Separate entry)
Related to my other comment, a great double feature with Ed Wood is of course Plan 9 From Outer Space , a 1957 film considered one of the worst of all time. Shot on a shoestring budget, it's actually very entertaining.
got it mixed up, i meant to recommend this one for sunday slop. If this one gets enough votes we'll probably do Ed Wood instead :rat-salute:
House (1977) - Maybe the best-regarded Japanese horror film of all time. Excellent choice for spooky month.
You should probably nominate that as a horror movie, i will make a thread in a couple weeks
Isle of Dogs (2018) - Wes Anderson makes an animated film about talking dog puppets in Japan. It is as strange as it sounds, but also quite acclaimed.
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) - This one has come up repeatedly but we haven't watched it yet, so I'll throw it in here. It's one of the better Coen bros. films.
Rear Window (1954) - Hitchcock movie where Jimmy Stewart looks out his window and thinks he saw a murder.
Michael Clayton (2007) - Really underrated and unjustly forgotten legal thriller starring George Clooney and Tilda Swinton and Tom Wilkinson.
Chungking Express (1994) - Wong Kar-wai's magnum opus, often considered the greatest Chinese film of all time.
The best Wong Kar-Wai film is whatever the last one I watched is. Although my soul resides in In The Mood For Love.
Thief (1981) - Early Michael Mann film starring James Caan as an expert thief. Really stylish, beautifully filmed, and super cool. Some parts will require content warnings.
