All that tape and you still managed to slop some of it.
I gotta ask, why are you painting a square in the middle of the wall in the first place. I thought it was a patch but now I'm not sure.
You should have used some of the loose paint you removed, and had the store color match it.
They said the paint was what the landlord had in the house, guess another room is a different color?
Uhm, sorry to update my advice after the fact. But you probably didn't want that tape square framing it. You could end with an obvious square of color and step in paint height. If the paint was matching/near matching and you didn't have the tape, it would probably blend a little more naturally into the rest of the wall.
