        Good point. I guess I assumed that the fabric itself tore because fixing that is a bigger problem than just mending a bad seam. I forgot that not everyone can sew and might just let a small hole in the seam become a large hole in the seam. That would still be surprising though, because the inseam of jeans are usually done with the kind of seam where you fold the two edges so they kind of interlock and then stitch both sides. I can't remember what it's called, but it's strong.
