Every last slave owner should be killed and their names burned from the book of history.

The stolen lands of their plantations and estates should be broken apart and redistributed equally among the formerly enslaved.

Today I'm thinking about how hard the Banderite Ukrainian Nationalists work to create the impression that socialism was entirely imposed on Ukraine by force, that no Ukrainian ever supported the USSR, and that "The Soviets" who crushed Bandera's insurgency and ended the Holocaust weren't as much comprised of soldiers from the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic as they were from anywhere else in the USSR.

There were Seven Million Ukrainians in the Red Army during WWII. That's who crushed Bandera's shitty little Nazi insurgency and ended the genocidal killings of Poles and Jews.

During the war there were only 20,000 Banderites and maybe 100,000 UPA paramilitaries. But those fascist murderers are the "Heroes of Ukraine" while the 7,000,000 Ukrainians who fought and bled to crush the fascist scum and denigrated and written out of history, their monuments torn down and defiled, their memory and sacrifice betrayed in service to Fascism.

Being a communist has not freed me from being a policy wonk. Hellish. I'll never even put this knowledge to practical use except for worldbuilding!

Getting into macroeconomics and public policy, not because I have a party I support and can agree with, but just so I can more accurately torture myself with an understanding of just how fucked the world is

the miami cuban guy that followed me back to my dorm to chastise me for wearing a :che: shirt a month or so ago just ranted to my piano teacher about me "supporting someone who murdered his people" when he walked in on my 9am lesson

bro this is a music tutor, you just happened to catch me in the middle of a lesson. I left that shirt at home this weekend. Are you alright :what-the-hell:

That's concerning. If you feel like he's continuing to follow you, your university should have someone you can talk to. Depending on how shitty the administration is, they may not do anything, but if he's stalking you it's worth a shot. Documenting repeated behavior helps.

It's handy that your piano tutor witnessed him just barging in on your lesson and deciding that ranting about a shirt you wore a month ago was a good idea. Having faculty that can back you up can be helpful.

what a fucking absolute loser. the vast majority of people in Latin America don't give a shit, the only ones who care are the bourgeois/petit-bourgeois miami expat losers.

not much deeper than that, fortunately for me. Followed me around for like 15 minutes yelling "he murdered my people!" as I walked back to my dorm and literally didn't stop until I locked him out of the dorm building

Got a new pair of jeans, wore them for a few hours and they ripped at the crotch when I sat down. Right size, didn't do a big squat or anything. Ok whatever, it's a tiny hole. Couple wears later, hole is the size of my fist. What the fuck? I can't keep going through pants like this. Are jeans just shittier now? Am I just too extreme for pants?

Good point. I guess I assumed that the fabric itself tore because fixing that is a bigger problem than just mending a bad seam. I forgot that not everyone can sew and might just let a small hole in the seam become a large hole in the seam. That would still be surprising though, because the inseam of jeans are usually done with the kind of seam where you fold the two edges so they kind of interlock and then stitch both sides. I can't remember what it's called, but it's strong.

ElGosso pointed out that maybe just the stitching gave way. I had assumed that the fabric itself tore. Mending a seam is fairly easy if you want to learn how! Patching a rend in the fabric is more complicated, especially now that it's bigger. Anyway, I can help you if you're interested in learning how to mend your jeans.

I did one last year, so I wouldn't want to get annoying. I could put something together for you though. What level of prior knowledge are you working with? One thing I will say for your jeans though, is if the fabric ripped, then I wouldn't bother with trying to patch them if they were my jeans because the fabric sucks and it'll likely just rip again around the new patch. Sewing the seam back together is a whole other situation though, and easy to fix. I could definitely put a tutorial together on that.

I got a call about the prep cook position i applied for but it’s been filled but they have other positions i could do. My brother said they really need a fry cook. I’m really nervous about calling back though and really want to put it off until tomorrow but I know I need to do it today but the thought of human interaction makes me wanna throw up

Think of how good it'll feel once it's over and you don't have the call hanging over your head anymore. You can do it! (This is how I talk to myself. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it does. 🤞 Good luck with the job search.)

It didn't work because I got their voice mail and left an awkward message when I should have just called again later
