Ah of course. Here I was viewing a large organisation of people forming a state apparatus as a complex machine with many different moving parts working in relation to the world around it and the circumstances surrounding it. All along I should have considered that if Bad Person in charge then it's bad and if Good person in charge it's good.

Picking through my copies of the first four Harry Potter books and reading about a whole lot of child murder, prior to the Dolores Umbridge character's introduction.

Gotta wonder if anyone was fired after a school girl was literally murdered in a bathroom stale. Or, at the least, fired when her ghost continued to haunt the drain pipes rather than being exorcised and put to rest.

    Ten years later.*

I hate that. All of it.

But what do they mean when they say it'll be like Umbridge's takeover? That Romney would have been unnecessarily cruel to the students? That things were going to be strict or abusive? That Romney would stop them from organizing for war against fascists? That the United States is like a school where everyone is a student?

What the fuck it's just so baby-brained. Material conditions mean fuck all to these people and I hate that they see the world like this.

It literally means nothing beyond the bad man in power instead of the good man

“You know Umbridge is a parody of useless moderates who let fascists enter power via inaction and silencing dissent, right? She’s a parody of you?”

Umbridge is a parody of useless moderates

I thought Cornelius Fudge and the Wizengamot were the useless moderates, while Umbridge was supposed to represent the fire-breathing reactionary Thatcherites who crusaded against symptoms while denying the problem.

      She’s a parody of you?

She's a saccharine-sweet bureaucrat with a sadistic streak. Definitely allusionary, but a little too on-the-nose to be a parody.

It's a good thing we didn't get Romney. Could you imagine if Obama was followed up by somebody like Romney?
