    One of my pet peeves is the narrative that America invented democracy, and then that's used to justify American imperialism. Read about traditional governance, there was tonnes of democracy around the world with the Things and the Moots and the Veche and what have you.

            My high school AP history teacher taught us that America was the first country to have a democratically created constitution enshrining democracy, so it must be the first and best :very-smart:
