Dolores Cacuango, also known as Mamá Doloreyuk, was a leader in the fight for indigenous rights in Ecuador born on this day in 1881. She was active in the Glorious May Revolution of 1944 and co-founded the Indigenous Federation of Ecuador (FEI).

Cacuango was born to enslaved people in San Pablourco who worked the Pesillo Hacienda near Cayambe without being paid. She had no access to education due to her lack of resources, and learned Spanish while working as a housemaid.

In 1930, Cacuango was among the leaders of the historic workers' strike at the Pesillo hacienda in Cayambe, which was a milestone for indigenous and peasant rights. During the Glorious May Revolution in Ecuador, Cacuango personally led an assault on a government military base.

The same year, with the help of Ecuador's Communist Party, Cacuango co-founded the Indigenous Federation of Ecuador (FEI), an early group in the fight for indigenous rights. She also helped establish some of the first bilingual indigenous schools.

I learned the other night that a single vest of well made level III soft body armor can stole like an absurd number of 9mm bullets. Like 200+, without the vest failing. You'd be pulp, but the mortician wouldn't have to dig a single bullet out of you.

Which means we don't need a gundam. We can just go back in time and give John Brown a shitload of body armor. It's just as good as having a gundam in 1859 because they hadn't invented nitrocellulose or boatail jacket projectiles yet.

You remember that aussie? He welded together a suit of armor from like spare car parts and pot lids. It stopped police issue ammunition at the time so he just robbed banks. He died because he forgot to make armored pants and he got shot in thr legs. There is a statue of him I think

I looked it up ned kelly. He shot corrupt cops and is a folk hero

harpers ferry rifles used larger calibers tho; 9mm is sending like a 1/5 to like 1/3 the energy of a .50-70 gov (what a Sharps Rifle would (later) use). maybe modern plates can stop some of the old rifles idk but this is a bit before cartridges/loads are standardized enough for us to really reliably know
