      from the perspective of the liberals, there really is no way that goes wrong. It makes voters vote for the Libs against the fasc which puts the Libs in power. They like that. They get to shut out left opposition as “dividing the vote”. And if the fascists win, eh, Libs don’t care about that either.

        I think that's too reductive tbh. It's a calculus the donor/political class might have made, but I think a great many liberal voters are just so deep in the kool-aid they forgot what water tastes like. They wouldn't know material conditions if it slapped them in the face - they have absolutely no conception or framework to make effective sense of their world. They honestly can't understand the world they themselves built.
