He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

well what the hell, I'm inclined to believe his wife as Russell Bentley was seemingly a very dedicated supporter of Donetsk
Maybe it’s a rogue Russian unit of rightwing nationalists who want to punish Bentley for being an outspoken communist? Perhaps Bentley was actually a spy of some kind and was filming for Ukraine? Perhaps his wife is just grieving and not making sound decisions or reliable info? Perhaps the abductors are forcing his wife to say certain things to the public?
The video of his wife saying these things appears to be legit, so it’s not just that some abductor hijacked his telegram.
I’m thinking the report that he was beheaded was misinformation because that allegedly happened days ago and there’s been no update on his telegram or from other DPR accounts

Sputnik is now reporting that he died, his wife confirmed it and she posted a picture at the ministry of investigation or whatever.

The most normal sane explanation is that he died to Ukrainian special forces and that his grieving widow received some bad info and repeated it. Or they contacted her and made her say that, threatening to kill Texas. Still seems fishy.
The less normal explanations are that it was indeed Russian army members that did this, and there’s some type of investigation ongoing
I suppose if you're ukrop special ops you would be wearing russian uniforms and probably selected for your ability to sound like a native russian speaker

I will always remember his video from the start of the war where he gave some rootin’ tootin’ pep talk and slapped a tank with a Z on it and talked about how he was going west to liberate Ukraine, and if they are lucky they will make it all the way to the US.

Yes he was well known enough in Donetsk that I doubt this was an accident or the coincidence. I think he was specifically targeted.
This is seriously fucking me up that Russian armored brigades can just go rogue and abduct and kill Donbas citizens. If Russia doesn’t release a formal investigation on this I will have lost a LOT of faith in the professionalism of the Russian armed forces. He was missing for 10 days, DPR officials were probably attempting to get him released the whole time. What the fuck is going on with your chain of command Russia? This is prigozhin tier embarrassment
I think it's still entirely plausible that this was some kind of ukraine thing and his wife was mislead, we just don't have enough information yet
