This statement is issued in response to id Software Studio Director Marty Stratton’s “DOOM Eternal OST Open Letter”, published on Reddit.
  • Producer set an unrealistic timetable and acted like a fucking baby when Gordon pointed out it wasn't working and suggested a restructure that kept all the same major milestones in place
  • Withheld pay from him for nearly a year, twice in a row
  • Announced the Mick Gordon Doom Eternal OST by Mick Gordon releasing like a month away without ever talking to Mick Gordon about it
  • Agreed to make a joint statement, then publicly libeled him on Reddit
  • Shared his fucking personal contact details with Reddit trolls so he could be doxxed
  • Ended up using all the music they rejected and thus refused to pay him for; roughly half the soundtrack
  • Tried to settle the issue with hush money while refusing to admit fault or even take down the fucking Reddit post

Goddamn what a fucking shitshow of a publisher. Pure fucking evil.

    Reddit’s ongoing issues with toxic fandom and abuse are obvious, and the site’s history of notorious hate-campaigns targeting individuals in the game industry could not have been far from Marty’s mind.

    Breach of trust: Reading the Reddit post made me sick to my stomach. Lie after lie after lie, all pointing to me as the fault while posturing himself as the one who did nothing wrong.

    The moderator introduced himself and spoke about his love for the DOOM franchise and its fanbase. Along with the r/DOOM subreddit, he told me he also moderated the official DOOM Discord server.

    I told him how Marty’s Reddit post had affected me deeply, both professionally and personally. It was a source of ongoing stress and harm, and I asked if he’d consider removing it.

    Much to my relief, he instantly took it down.

    But within 12 hours, the post was reinstated. The moderator blocked me on Discord and didn’t reply to my emails.

    A few days later, Marty’s lawyers contacted me and said removing the Reddit post had greatly offended him. He was furious and made it clear in the strongest terms that an amicable resolution would be impossible.
