• Producer set an unrealistic timetable and acted like a fucking baby when Gordon pointed out it wasn't working and suggested a restructure that kept all the same major milestones in place
  • Withheld pay from him for nearly a year, twice in a row
  • Announced the Mick Gordon Doom Eternal OST by Mick Gordon releasing like a month away without ever talking to Mick Gordon about it
  • Agreed to make a joint statement, then publicly libeled him on Reddit
  • Shared his fucking personal contact details with Reddit trolls so he could be doxxed
  • Ended up using all the music they rejected and thus refused to pay him for; roughly half the soundtrack
  • Tried to settle the issue with hush money while refusing to admit fault or even take down the fucking Reddit post

Goddamn what a fucking shitshow of a publisher. Pure fucking evil.

If you read closely it sounds like when he reached out to Bethesda directly they were pretty willing to immediately hash out a contract, and it's mostly this Marty Stratton asshole who was fucking with him

But yeah, there's so much worse in out there

Exactly what I was thinking reading this, they're not even the worst publisher owned by Microsoft but they do fit right in with Activision

Quantic Dream. David Cage being quite the creep and terrible person beyond being shit at making games.

          CW: Homophobia, misogyny, slurs

He famously said that "all the women in my games are whores" and "we don't make games for f*gs." He also started screaming and crying in court when someone sued the company for a toxic work environment.

I think it goes a bit deeper given that Bethesda was going out of its way to protect the reputation of one shitbag. Same with how ActiBlizz was sticking its neck out for Bobby Kotick, even though they could have just cut him loose straight up.

Deep down, it's solidarity between parasites on a power trip. They see one of them getting fried as precedent for any of them.

Microsoft doesn't even come into the picture here until near the end of the article, months after the game had already released.

It's wild how much a corporation will protect an awful manager's personal reputation. But it makes sense when you realize all of management is like this and it's just these ghouls protecting each other. It's not about "the bottom line" of money, it's about the personal power of the worst people on the planet (capitalists).

It was intended as a parody of corporate PR speak, like when Raytheon releases a statement affirming their commitment to diversity

Didn't say it landed perfectly and it certainly raises an eyebrow, but it was in no way intended as "Great Replacement" horseshit. The level of storytelling they were shooting for was pretty explicitly stated to be "reverse side of action figure packaging"

Reddit’s ongoing issues with toxic fandom and abuse are obvious, and the site’s history of notorious hate-campaigns targeting individuals in the game industry could not have been far from Marty’s mind.

    anti- :reddit-logo: Aktion.

Breach of trust: Reading the Reddit post made me sick to my stomach. Lie after lie after lie, all pointing to me as the fault while posturing himself as the one who did nothing wrong.

mfw I'm reading some State Department propaganda.

Death to Gamers, of course :nasrallah:

The moderator introduced himself and spoke about his love for the DOOM franchise and its fanbase. Along with the r/DOOM subreddit, he told me he also moderated the official DOOM Discord server.

I told him how Marty’s Reddit post had affected me deeply, both professionally and personally. It was a source of ongoing stress and harm, and I asked if he’d consider removing it.

Much to my relief, he instantly took it down.

But within 12 hours, the post was reinstated. The moderator blocked me on Discord and didn’t reply to my emails.

A few days later, Marty’s lawyers contacted me and said removing the Reddit post had greatly offended him. He was furious and made it clear in the strongest terms that an amicable resolution would be impossible.

:freedom-and-democracy: I love living in a free country. A vibrant democracy. Truly the people are in power!
