I read an article about Bridgerton that summarized how I feel about it. Diverse casting in these shows still center around whiteness. A black queen playing someone from the English aristocracy is still white centered. They argued if they want to portray diversity accurately they should make shows or characters where black characters are from Africa.
EXACTLY! Make stories from their culture! Maybe fund some overseas directors! They should make less white stuff where they haphazardly insert some "diverse" message, but actual introduction of good shit. Like the "Woman King" movie. Loved that shit.
