This winter I removed a blackcurrant plant that had been rooted beneath the shed. It had apparently been there for a few years, in the darkness between the shed and the fence. I dug it up and planted it in the sunshine, but one of its arms got torn off as I was freeing it. I figured I may as well just put the arm in the ground as well and see what happens, and now it is growing bigger and stronger than the healthy plant I bought from the shop. It is like being in darkness all those years, the sun is now like steroids for them.
