It's such a pain in the ass to invade Great Britain. As France I can't manage to start a war against them which doesn't immediately become a great power pile-on. Unless they lose the Raj and Canada early they're on god mode.

I should build up my navy. My problem right now, at 1890, is that my 50-strong fleets are good enough for any other country. GB is the only one which fields 100-strong navies and I can't bolster my military or landowners' influence that much. They have a defense agreement with Spain, Italy, and Prussia so I'm stuck defending all of my land borders simultaneously.
yeah, that does suck. Allying with the Dutch and Portuguese (and Ideally the Spanish) generally gives you enough extra naval power. A lot rides on control of the South Pacific because then you can starve GB of a lot of things and the Raj can't keep up alone.
