i guess there's a number of people out there that really think twitter is real life
Hey I don't mind spreading any story that reduces confidence in Twitter advertisers
something i always think about when Reznor comes up is how his music was decried at the time as being hate-filled/taboo/what-have-you by a certain set of cultural critics/picketers and often held up as evidence of the decline of "family values" and nihilism in the 90s etc. and wrote a song called "Love Is Not Enough". meanwhile, been married to the same woman since whenever and by all accounts is supposed to be a highly engaged husband, and father who puts family above touring and career.
then there's john lennon who sang "love is all you need" and beat up every woman he could lay hands on, plus ran out on his kid and her mom.
Declining values is when you make a whole album about how drug abuse is bad :blob-no-thoughts:
The fact Reznor seems like a doting father to his kids is adorable
Whenever I think of Trent Reznor, I just think of the weird WKUK sketch, mostly because of the hilarious moment where Sam grabs Darren's boob while really in character and then immediately realizes what he's done and has this brief look of 'aw fuck I was into that.'
I guess it kinda makes sense for celebrities or persons of note. Trying to let people know that in the future, Trent Reznor twitter handles might not actually be Trent Reznor.
It’s been an assistant for years anyway. He doesn’t do unhinged Twitter rants anymore and it’s a shame.
I followed him for a while.I remember most of his rants being about highly specific problems with the music industry, like people he hated or industry stuff I didn't understand. One time he did a long rant about his performance being cut off early at the 2014 Grammys.
A lot of the time he'd rant about social media in general, saying it had made for more restrained artistic expression rather than the opposite. He'd say stuff like music and art have become worse because everyone was chasing an algorithm. I remember one thing he said was like "nobody gives a fuck if you have a Facebook account." He genuinely seemed to have hated social media in its entirety.
When it got really weird was the occasional time he'd get mad at Courtney Love
