I remember reading an article about how a disabled person in prehistory died from being overfed with figs. The body was buried with care, the archaeologists painted a picture that this disabled person was cared for, but they did nothing but feed them figs, like all their teeth were rotted out and they were relatively young. The person couldn’t walk, they weren’t a child, this prehistoric community went out of its way to feed a disabled person figs until they died. I guess figs made them happy idk? I just always found it funny,
That's a hell of a way to go! I'm so curious about why they did that. I love reading about archaeology, but I feel like I always just end up with more questions that will never get answered. Or we may think we know the answer, but we're totally off base, Motel of the Mysteries style.
