When Trump ran for president he used controversy after controversy to get free advertising, the internet and television could not stop paying attention to him, the amount of time that was simply spent talking about Trump dwarfed the amount of time that was spent talking about other presidential candidates. Journalists and social media platforms have an obligation to not platform Kanye like they did Trump. Every article, every late night show joke, every single mention of him is only going to serve as free advertising for his campaign.

    What does an obligation mean here

    Cause like we live under capitalism, I think we all basically know the media's entire incentive structure and the "public good" has never been in these except by complete coincidence
