When Trump ran for president he used controversy after controversy to get free advertising, the internet and television could not stop paying attention to him, the amount of time that was simply spent talking about Trump dwarfed the amount of time that was spent talking about other presidential candidates. Journalists and social media platforms have an obligation to not platform Kanye like they did Trump. Every article, every late night show joke, every single mention of him is only going to serve as free advertising for his campaign.

I know electoralism is a fuck, but please on the ghost of Marx anybody but fucking Kanye!

The media has an obligation to do whatever boosts ratings and this is good for ratings, they go where the ad money go. Besides the entire world is watching Kanye no matter who reports on it through things like social media.

This is not something that can be solved without the total dismantling of the bourgeois media apparatus and then a healthy few years of reeducation.

Exactly. We went through this with Trump for a reason. This is entirely within the power of the liberal media to crush, but they won't. They can't.

We can't sit here and go "oh the media will stop this because Kanye is too controversial for money" He's got money. He's got a social media site completely on his side. After this latest bit of controversy, he has other people's money if he wants it. At some point just hoping the brakes of capitalism will stop this won't be enough. At some point advertisers won't matter. They'll have just enough money and just enough support to push Nazi shit further. And then a little while later they'll push it a little more. Inch by inch we'll get there. It may take a decade, but we can do it. All the safety features of liberal democracy will slowly break down as this wave rises to meet it. At some point it won't be enough.

The reason the actual left doesn't have a voice in all this is because the liberal media keeps the left out. We're not going to have our own outsider person with the reach and celebrity to oppose the actions of libs and reactionaries. They'll never let us in.

That's why we have to work outside the system and come up with a way of reaching people that isn't twitter and media.

seems to me like the safety features of liberal democracy are working well and will continue to work well. scratch a whatis and stuff ... red thing. you know. the thing.

Kanye West president would be such a chaos event that it's impossible to know whether is a good or bad outcome

I support it simply because it would highlight what a fucking joke the U.S. has become and will further consolidate Chinese hegemony.

What does an obligation mean here

Cause like we live under capitalism, I think we all basically know the media's entire incentive structure and the "public good" has never been in these except by complete coincidence

I feel you, but I think OP meant "a social obligation in the type of advanced society that the US thinks it is (even though we know it's not)"

He already ran once and no one noticed, what's to stop that from repeating itself?

It does seem like the media needs at least one stupid loud asshole to constantly talk about and right now Kanye and Musk have filled their Trump-sized hole.

I'm guessing the CIA would probably just invite Kanye to their Minecraft server before actually allowing him to win though. Say what you will about Kanye, but he would be much more difficult to control than Trump.

people said trump couldnt win and the media gave him free publicity and he became the president; people say kanye couldn't win and the media gives him free publicity and therefore he will become the president

is baby level analysis. though if donda 4 is a trap/gospel album about winning kim back and also whipping up his party to fund public housing (futurist space yurts), i'm all for it.

Dont worry. I will perform ancient yakubian rituals to stop the media from platforming Kanye.
