    In the book it's made clear that the programmer had told the owner that setting up and debugging the park's computers would take at least a year, but was only contracted for a couple months and then strongarmed into finishing the work for free, which was what lead to him reaching out to another company to do industrial espionage.

    I wonder why Stephen Spielberg would rewrite that to make it the workers' fault?

      I didn't know that, would have been pretty easy to incorporate into the movie too.
