They have no sense of philosophical fundamentals like epistemology and ontology. Normally the dominant social narratives would give them that even if it's bullshit idealism. Free-thinking without a formal understanding of how to think critically or fit that into a coherent ideology is always going to be absolute babyshit. Even if they aren't outright reactionaries when I see someone describe themselves as a free thinker I immediately assume they're terminally dumb.
