The only response I can think to take on this is to basically paint it as holocaust denial (double genocide theory) and erasure of the other soviets that suffered in the '30s famine (like Kazakhstan, which proportionally suffered the greatest losses, but is completely unheard of in relation to the famine whenever it comes up).
When I brought this up in another thread, somebody said that some Kazakh nationalists were starting to claim genocide too, but honestly even that would be an improvement to this stupid fucking bullshit that makes it all about Ukraine (closer to historically correct, less fuel for this narrative of Russia always having it out for poor little Ukraine, etc.). And it would at least fuck with liberals to have their assumed moral high-ground challenged.
