    The five goals are establishing the right perception, strengthening dialogue, effectively managing differences, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly shouldering responsibilities as major countries

    These are literally the same goals China announces every time the US has “dialogue” with China then turn around and accuse them of a bunch of shit or threaten to invade the country or threaten to sanction them.

    I guess it’s beneficial PR wise because you’re offering cooperation and mutual benefit while the other guy is foaming at mouth and threatening to kill your family while he swears he’s benevolent. But at the same time it does come off as pathetic. Ultimately actions speak louder than words, and the global south has determined that the US and the west have been arrogant for too long. Hopefully it goes somewhere positive

      I don’t mind the flowery PR so long as behind the scenes, China is not naive regarding the US. They are dealing with an injured, cornered wolf in the US and sometimes it feels like China sees the US more like a little Golden Retriever.
