frankly i don't think most people are "trying to be rude bastards, mog with their knowledge and suck the air out of the room" but also aren't "trying to be impressive". i think 9 times out of 10 they either think the thing they're talking about is genuinely interesting or are nervous and just start talking. you seem to have a really negative opinion of other people
