I can't stand the insane hypocrisy of the US goverment.

Like don't get me wrong, noone should be sent to prison for smoking weed so :russia-cool: of cause.

But how can the US government acts like punishing someone for this is some kind of outrageous human rights violation that could never occur in the civilised West when there people sitting in US prisons for the same fucking "crime".

But the US has democracy and rule of law, so there's a democratic mandate for imprisoning people who smoke weed, especially if they're black.

lolol Reddit is SO fucking pissed. Move over Amber Heard, Brittney Griner is now the most hated woman in their world 😂

Ok I actually trust the state department to make a good trade here. He's probably as likely to funnel guns for Ukraine. They probably have an idea of what connections he has remaining, or hell set him up with new ones on our side. Goddamn reddit is the absolute most 1 dimensional brains on the planet.

Ok but if we're freeing an arms dealer for someone that is illegally possessing drugs in another country, literally every person in jail for possession in America should be released too

      This article says that

Marc Fogel, a history teacher from Pittsburgh who taught the children of U.S. diplomats abroad, was detained in Moscow in August 2021. He had with him a small amount of medical marijuana he used for chronic back pain.

In June, Fogel, 61, was sentenced to 14 years at a labor camp.

The federal government has not designated Fogel as wrongfully detained.

lol that arms dealer guy Viktor Bout is actually pretty cool. Wikipedia says he helped the MPLA a bit, and was caught trying to sell weapons to FARC. I love learning about these guys who had jobs in the Soviet Union still doing their thing. I wonder if the US is getting anything else secretly.

      Viktor Bout

Yeah I think somebody needs to make some of his life stories into an awesome movie about a KGB officer who made communist revolution his personal mission after the USSR folded.

Lord of War with Nicholas Cage is allegedly loosely based on him, but probably total anti-communist lib shit. Haven’t seen it in a very long time so I don’t recall
