Pretty entertaining RWN episode.
Ames, Dolan, and Levine all absolutely trash Matt Taibi. What's funny about that is that they all used to work together, and apparently Ames and Taibi were pretty close. So essentially this episode is three friends roasting the former friend they had a falling out with. The personal drama makes it interesting. Chapo could never.
The path from edgey left journalist to fascist stooge is kind of interesting. Like Ames and Taibi were both huge pieces of shit in the 90s, but one does interesting work now while the other became completely reactionary. John Dolan's take that what turned them both to the Left was having actual experience with the right wing kind of makes sense. I guess whenever fascist movements grow you get privileged edgey intellectuals who thing it's an easy way to get clout.
Also two very good points were made about the Elon/Twitter thing that I haven't seen elsewhere: Elon is an oligarch and like all the famoous Russian oligarchs of the 90s he has his little minions who will do the dirty work for him, and also Elon/Twitter are very fed. It's pretty unlikely that the deep state will allow a major asset like Twitter to just fall apart due to the whims of some rich guy.
I stopped listening to the show because of the Constant liberalism. Truly a nosedive, they became everything they decried over the last few years
RWN was one of my favorite shows before the Ukraine War, I haven’t been able to listen since then.
