Deng was hero of the CCP because he was the only one of them to truly understand the importance of opening party doctrine to the Western student politics movement. He knew it was them who could provide the big picture ideas, cultural history of enlightenment ethics, and critical thinking skills which can keep them on the path to acceptable communism and help them coexist with the rules base international order.
