I'm in Shanghai. Currently sick with covid, as are most of my friends. Situation is similar, practically all previous limits/codes etc are gone. Wild how fast it all happened.

Good luck with your tests. Are you doing antigens too or just sticking to PCRs?

You not got any self-tests though? My community is just telling us to self-test and avoid shared-tube PCRs because of the high likelihood of getting grouped in with a positive case even if you're negative.

Grim days ahead I presume, unfortunate how it's all unraveled. I hope ICUs don't get overwhelmed and all we've learned about the virus up until now gets put to good use in treating the folks who get covid. Stay safe friend, sorry that it's come to this.

I've been shocked by how quickly zero covid was rolled back really dreading the consequences. Covid damages your immune system so be extra cautious after you recover for a while. https://archive.ph/KwoT5

Reading the comments here is such a crazy experience for me. I'm in Hangzhou, and I still see people out and about without wearing masks because it's not particularly severe here yet. I'd say there's a week or two before we go through what the other major cities are going through.

Yea, I've seen that table. I work at a university and they're still fairly strict about testing atm. Not sure what they'll do they once people start being positive just by virtue of being part the batch sampling.

Yea, I was looking for a spot to do a test just now and I accidentally found a single-vial spot. Had to pay for it though. Hope the other single-vial tests aren't like that.

That WHO link in particular reiterates a number of times that Omicron is more infectious and less severe. Listen, I'm not delighted about the speed of COVID rollbacks, but it is better that it's happening now rather than a year ago.

My contacts trend young and outgoing so take that as you will, but generally there's a weird mix between the relief of zero-covid finally being over, and the new anxiety about what lots-of-covid is going to mean for the country.

It's all happened so fast that it hasn't really set in yet. I don't think anyone really understands why its unraveling so rapidly, everyone expected a much slower and more gradual process.

I know people who were in quarantine centers two weeks ago for being close contacts, and today you can actually have covid and just stay home with zero enforcement. It's crazy.

Bruh I still don't know shit about Bakugon. I had a couple because the toys were neat and people were trading them at school, but I remember I caught an episode on Toonami and was immediately turned off by how stupid everything seemed (this is coming from someone who grew up with and loved the Yu Gi Oh anime)

Had a sickness this last week for the first time since before covid, caught at a scientific conference. Triple vaccinated + flu shots. Never had covid through the entire pandemic (N95 masks + total hermit). Don't know if what I had was one of the newer, milder variants. I felt awful for two days but now feel totally fine. No loss of senses, no dizziness or mental fog. Thinking I might have just had an ordinary rhinovirus. Hope I never get the real thing...

They probably run a number on that and find infeasible, since you also need maintenance the system too. Bureaucrat, anything to save money which is stupid

One would think making up new industry of air control systems would be nice for workers, china as exporter itself, and even bureaucrats (new way to have kpi). Idk, did they fiddle their thumbs for 2 years (or 1 year after Japan more or less successful experience with air control)?

Hope you're ok. It was not a fun experience for me. It's been weeks and I still cough up junk from it.
