It's been a few years since I watched it (Probably gonna change that rn!), but I remember Drew (left) overall being pretty respectful and even-handed with his retelling of events, presenting a very humanizing view of the country and people. I think he even goes into the level of destruction they had to go through during the Korean War a little bit.

His coworkers make some of the jokes/assumptions you might expect from Americans talking about NK, but even they don't go overboard with it.

If you have 2 hours, give it a watch! It's really cool and informative.

excuse me that's Blinking White Guy Drew Scanlon. his NK trip stuff was pretty cool.

idk how giantbomb is now with the corporate bullshit and jeff gerstmann leaving but the community used to be mostly fine but had a decent chunk of people who really didn't like patrick or austin for some reason, and apparently they were real shitty to abby but i wasn't around for that.

I'm not super updated with everything GB, but apparently now that basically all the OGs are gone it's a walking corpse ready to die any day now. It's genuinely pretty fuckin' sad considering how great the site used to be, and was only a few years ago.

Fuck the venture capitalist bastards who bought and killed it.

yeah, if all the original people are gone you shouldn't be able to call it the same thing

          Ship of Theseus, etc., etc.

Nextlander seems to be the true successor to Giant Bomb.

The Jeff Gerstmann show is the true successor. Jar Time with Jeff is now a weekly podcast.

Mainly to Nextlander, which was formed by 3 of the long-timers who all coincidentally left GB at the same time.

Drew did clothmap and the pandemic killed that project, not sure what he's up to now.

patrick left a whiiile ago and i think he's still at waypoint

austin founded and i think has left waypoint.

          some of them started nextlander

          jeff is flying solo

idk where abby went, hopefully somewhere she's not getting abuse from shitheads.

            Nextlander

austin went to Waypoint at vice, I think he left and does writing now. DnD type stuff. So good for him. I think he still does his DnD pod but I am not sure.

Abby guests on Nextlander sometimes, so she's still in touch with the crew.

I remember this! It's good to hear it holds up. A lot of the people that roll through Giant Bomb are fairly left (lefty libs usually, with the occasional real one tm) so I suppose it's not too surprising they were respectful. It was also 2013 though.

No, this was his pre-CM days, and someone posted the link to the vid where he did indeed go to Cuba!
