This year seems to shape up to be especially annoying with “post”-Covid and the Ukrainian War going on. I’m already prepared to be called Putin’s friend for not being completely happy with my meagre saving dwindling as I live well below the poverty line or being called an Anti-Vaxxer for being critical of the pharmaceutical industry for effectively withholding vaccines from poor (brown) people. Oh wait, the last one happened last year, nvm.

Funny thing is, my dad lived in the USSR for over 30 years, he went through the same education as I am going through right now with the stark difference that his career didn’t meet a dead end at his phd. He also hates Gorbachev for effectively causing the Tajik civil war, which basically severed him from his home entirely. My mother on the other hand basically went full blown lib in the last three years of the pandemic and war, when all visible resistance to German policy came from anti-vaccine cranks, so my general dissent and perspective are somehow categorised as the same.
