This year seems to shape up to be especially annoying with “post”-Covid and the Ukrainian War going on. I’m already prepared to be called Putin’s friend for not being completely happy with my meagre saving dwindling as I live well below the poverty line or being called an Anti-Vaxxer for being critical of the pharmaceutical industry for effectively withholding vaccines from poor (brown) people. Oh wait, the last one happened last year, nvm.

Some of us just need the support because we're very lonely this time of year. Cutting off your chud family is nice, but everything and everyone remind you of what you lost.

Explained why Zelenskyy isn't that great to my parents when jeopardy got covered up by his dumb speech yesterday. Pointing out that we're giving billions in weapons to melt people when we could be pushing a peace deal. And also that we've been instigating this since 2014.

Did a similar thing, only ended with some switching to mocking chuds because family is lib.

My chud parents and I have an agreement to just avoid talking politics around eachother. We yelled at eachother enough during the summer 2020 protests to learn our positions aren’t going to change, so why bother

I'm going to dinner with my lib housemate. She's a gem and is paying for dinner (a christmas buffet thing), but holy shit is she deep in the NATO-esque foreign policy brain. Just whole-hoggedly swallows Western propaganda, and has recently decided that being against "dictatorships" is her thing now.

I mean you can try to tip that energy into full ancomism and see if she can recognize all states as inherently oppressive

At least then she'd maybe start reading some theory, that's kinda how it worked for me

Not sure if I have the energy to do that, especially with her mum there. Some other time, maybe.

Lol the thought of you propagandizing her mom as well is cracking me up, but yeah that's not the time

My goal is to just change the subject any time politics is brought up. Even if you bring a dissertation and prove that legalizing gay marriage and marijuana would cure cancer globally, they don't want to hear it. So, do the same, if they're whining about black people, hint that you don't give a shit.

Funny thing is, my dad lived in the USSR for over 30 years, he went through the same education as I am going through right now with the stark difference that his career didn’t meet a dead end at his phd. He also hates Gorbachev for effectively causing the Tajik civil war, which basically severed him from his home entirely. My mother on the other hand basically went full blown lib in the last three years of the pandemic and war, when all visible resistance to German policy came from anti-vaccine cranks, so my general dissent and perspective are somehow categorised as the same.

Shout-out to my parents for only being mildly conservative and still getting basic shit like vaccines. Still sucks to talk politics but I try not to

Ukraine is honestly the worst. Libs think you're fascist when you get pissed zelinsky rolled out of bec and got enough to house thousands for a war caused at least in part by his failure to prevent racial violence his country was legally obligated to.

I’m really going to try and not talk politics. I usually say some normal shit like war is bad that gets the whole family in an uproar and arguing with me. But this year I’ll try really hard to just shake my head and talk about sports or something.
