The Cuban blockade is one thing that even US libs can see is cruel and pointless. Of course they don't connect that to broader US American evil, though

Libs only think it’s cruel and pointless because it prevents Americans from easily vacationing there and getting cigars.

And they also think if we remove the blockade it will topple the "communist regime" eventually....

Americans will topple the Cuban regime by consuming so many piña coladas in varadero that the entire country runs out of rum, coconut milk, and pineapples.

That was Obama’s angle for lifting restrictions. They immediately started doing CIA-backed social media start ups and NGOs.

Not just this, but for a bit, we LARP as libs who only want the Cuban blockade lifted because we want to consume treats. Even :grillman: might sympathize with our noble consumerist goal.

And because it’s the crass Florida Chuds implementing and sustaining it, who are their political opponents

It's an American company operating out of Florida lmao

It used to operate out of Norway and was founded there, hence the name

Florida politics for you. Lure a company in with zero taxes, then expose them to the batshit craziest liability laws

it sounds good but i wonder how practical it is over building affordable housing on land which can have sewer and water service from the city.

You could hook the ship up to the city water and waste systems. The benefits that its already built and it doesn't require land make the costs of a refit a fraction of the cost of building something from scratch. Many city centers are close to the sea meaning people can live close to where they work without having to pay for expensive real estate due to inflated land costs and they don't have to spend hours in traffic. Anything they built would have to be built where something else already is meaning they would displace people and also have to pay for whatever is on the property even if they are just going to bulldoze it. Low income housing far away from the city is useless.
