This one's from this week (which is why i'm posting this in c/news), taken at the climate protest in the German village of Lützerath that is about to get eaten by that excavator due to sitting on top of 280 million tons of coal. It's the final expansion of the open pit mine Garzweiler operated by Rheinbraun, a subsidy of the RWE corporation.
As burning 280 million tons of coal is kinda shit for the climate, a group of activists has begun occupying the empty village that was about to get bulldozed and has turned it into an anarchist commune. Based on earlier, similar protests, we can expect standoffs between protesters and locals on one side and cops and corporate security on the other that last for weeks, if not months.
