I've been playing FGO since it launched in NA. I've spent around $300 on it, but still don't have Merlin or Jalter. I think it's a really weird feeling as a leftist to play a game that's exploitative by nature, know and understand how harmful its mechanics are, but still enjoy it.

Same, but I’m only really committing now on NA.

I’ve spent like 95~ on it through out the years.

I wouldn’t let it get to you much in terms of compromising your views as a leftist because no ethical consumption (especially this) yadda yadda.

I didn't mean it gets to me. I more meant that it reinforces that even if you're 100% aware of the tricks games like that use, they still work on you. Like I know how gambling works, how the game tricks you into spending money on it, and I still spend money. It sort of reinforced the 'you are not immune to propaganda' thing to me, in a roundabout way.

Ahh okay, yeah, no one, not even the most resolute monk is immune.

it's all about exposure and normalization, if I were born like 5 years later I'd probably be all into this shit

but as a radicool 90s kid microtransactions and DLC seemed alien to me from the beginning
